Poway Chiropractor Dr. Rode Talks About Taking X-rays
June 18, 2011Poway Chiropractor Dr Rode Explains Why Sometimes Patients Need Heel Lifts
April 19, 2010One of the reasons why patients may suffer from low back pain is because the have what is called an anatomical short leg. There are two types of short legs anatomical and functional. A functional short leg is when one of the muscle is contracted and causes the feet to be different on a leg length check. An anatomical short leg is something that shows up when an X-ray film is taken. Some times if the difference is large enough a heel lift for the shoe may be warranted. When you put in heal lifts and there is a large difference say 15 mm it is important to start off slowly. Start with a 3 mm lift then go to a 6 mm lift then 9 mm and then a 12 mm lift. If start of with the 12 mm lift you can actually be causing more problems in the low back because the body in no use to such a sudden change. That is why it is always important to gradually increase the lift height. For more information about your chiropractic needs call Dr Rode at Rode Chiropractic in Poway CA 858-391-1372

November 24, 2009Poway Chiropractor Dr Rode Explains Why A Ban is Advised on 2 Top Pills For Pain Relief
November 10, 2009An advisory committee for the Federal Drug Administration recommended a ban on Percocet and Vicodin because of their effects on the liver.
The drugs contain acetaminophen which is found in Tylenol and Excedrin.
Each year 400 people die and 42,000 are hospitalized due to overdoses.
People are using these drugs to limit or decrease the pain they are experiencing.
Low back pain, neck pain, headaches are common reasons for taking it.
These are also the aches and pains that chiropractors can effectively treat.
Now doesn’t it make sense to see a chiropractor to see if he can help rather than risk liver damage by taking acetaminophen?
Poway Chiropractor Dr Rode Gives A Simple Tip To Prevent Back Pain
December 30, 2008Here is a helpful and useful tip on how to prevent back pain. Many men typically keep their wallet in their back pocket of their pants. This is a bad location because when you sit for long periods of time whether driving, sitting in a chair in an office you are actually causing your spine and hips to get misaligned. The typical wallet can be one to two inches in width. So imagine siting on a two inch pad for long periods of time. It will naturally begin causing misalignments in your hips and spine. So what I always tell my patients is to keep their wallet in their front pocket. This prevents pelvic unleveling from the wallet. This simple habit can prevent the occurrence of back and hip pain. Don’t Do This Do This Instead
December 19, 2008One of the most common ways my patients have hurt their back is by picking up something heavy and then as the lift they twist at the same time. For instance you are moving a heavy item from the ground to the top of a table and it is just easier to twist and put it on the table than to properly position yourself. This is a really excellent way of damaging the disks in your spine. You see the lower back is really not designed to twist or rotate much. It is really designed to go up and down. So what you want to do when you lift up a large heavy item is lift it straight up and then move your body by moving your feet rather than twisting. So Don’t lift and twist Do lift and shuffle or move your feet to properly position your body. For more information go to www.rodechiropractic.com

Chiropractic Can Help Whiplash Pain, Says Dr. Kip Rode of Rode Chiropractic
December 12, 2008A high percentage of auto accidents result in whiplash. To avoid short and long term pain, chiropractic care should be administered as soon as possible.
Poway CA, February 08, 2008 — According to the United States Department of Transportation, over the last decade there was an average of more than 5 million automobile accidents every year, resulting in more than 2 million injuries annually.
Perhaps the most common auto injury is whiplash, which is caused by a sudden movement of the head in any direction. The result is that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine can become strained or torn. Some symptoms include neck pain or stiffness, pain between shoulder blades, blurred vision, fatigue, headache, and dizziness to name a few.
Often times auto accident victims are not aware of the damage caused by whiplash. Symptoms sometimes do not appear immediately. They can take days to appear or may not even surface for years, according to Dr. Kip Rode, D.C., an expert chiropractor and owner of Rode Chiropractic. Because of this, Dr. Rode urges all accident victims to seek medical care whether they feel immediate pain or not. In some cases early detection of whiplash can significantly decrease long-term consequences. According to Dr. Rode, even after whiplash victims settle insurance claims, almost half suffer with symptoms even two years later.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 800,000 people suffer from whiplash every year. Costs related to whiplash total more than $5 billion annually. Today most cases of automobile whiplash are covered by insurance companies.
Often times, medical professionals like chiropractors will offer free consultations to auto injury victims to see if whiplash or any other injuries need proper care. Dr. Rode offers a free consultation at his practice, Rode Chiropractic. “That way it makes it easier for victims to see if they need help. Especially with whiplash cases, where many times victims don’t even know they are injured. I can’t stress the importance of medical care after an accident. It can really reduce long term pain, discomfort, and treatment,” said Dr. Rode
